Should I start a business in Delaware?

Updated 1 year ago by Julian Cordero

Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. This tends to be one of those rules that applies to starting a business in Delaware as opposed to the state you plan on doing business. While I won't be as bold as saying that you should never start a business in Delaware, I will be bold enough to state that many of the reasons you have heard as to why its a good idea to start a business in Delaware are probably not applicable or archaic.

As a rule of thumb, if you are running a business in New York, you should probably form your business in New York. However, before you decide to form in New York or Delaware, or another state for that matter, do yourself a favor and speak to a business lawyer to make sure that you are doing the right thing. Spending a bit now could save you a lot of money later down the road.

How did we do?
